What strategies do you use to migrate our existing content and SEO rankings to the new site?

I implement a comprehensive migration strategy, including:

  • Thorough content inventory and audit
  • Proper 301 redirects for all existing URLs
  • Preservation of metadata and on-page SEO elements
  • Coordination with search engines to re-index the new site quickly
What measures do you take to ensure minimal downtime during the transition to the new site?

I use a staging environment for development and testing:

  • I set up a separate, private staging server that mimics your live server environment.
  • This staging site is password-protected to prevent public access.
  • I develop and make all changes on this staging site first.
  • This allows you to preview and test the new site without affecting your live site.
  • We can iterate on designs and functionality in a safe environment.

I have a rollback plan in place for unforeseen issues:

  • Before the transition, I create a complete backup of your existing live site.
  • I document all necessary steps to revert to the old site if needed.
  • I prepare a set of SQL queries or scripts that can quickly restore the previous database state.
  • I keep the old site’s files and configurations readily available.
  • If any critical issues arise post-launch, I can quickly switch back to the previous version while we address the problems.
